Nous sommes Patrick et Catherine.
Fin 2022, nous avons fait l’acquisition d’un corps de ferme avec un terrain de 2 hectares dans le bocage normand (à 20 minutes en voiture de Bayeux). Nous avons pour projet la rénovation des différents corps de bâtiments (grange, pressoir, four à pain, puits), la création de massifs paysagers autour des bâtiments, la création d’un potager biologique de 300 m2, et l’aménagement d’un pré avec abris pour âne et moutons. Il y aura également poules, canards et lapins.
Nous prévoyons par la suite de créer un parc paysager sur une partie du terrain, mais ce sera pour plus tard…
Nos enfants ayant quitté le nid familial, nous avons dorénavant le temps et l'espace pour accueillir des voyageurs avec qui échanger. Nous serons heureux de partager avec vous les repas et les activités journalières, dont les horaires dépendront des saisons, de la météo et de vos souhaits, à raison de l’équivalent de 5 journées par semaine.
Vous participerez principalement à la création du potager et des espaces paysagers. Si cela vous intéresse, nous pourrons aussi vous apprendre les différentes espèces de plantes vivaces et arbustes, et leurs associations. Vous pourrez également aider à l’aménagement du pré pour les animaux.
Lorsque nous ne sommes pas en train de nous occuper du jardin ou de bricoler, nous aimons nous balader dans les environs à pied ou à vélo, observer les oiseaux, cuisiner…
Vous pourrez vous promener dans le bocage normand, et plus loin visiter la ville de Caen (Abbaye aux Hommes, Abbaye aux Dames, Mémorial de Caen et autres musées), la ville de Bayeux (tapisserie de Guillaume Le Conquérant, cathédrale), découvrir les plages du débarquement, la Suisse normande, ou encore le Mont-Saint-Michel.

We are Patrick and Catherine.
End of 2022, we bought an old farmhouse with 2 hectares of land in the wooded pasturelands of Normandy (about 20 minutes drive from Bayeux). Our project is to renovate the old buildings (the barn, the apple-press, the bread oven, and the well), to create mixed borders around the buildings, to create an organic vegetable garden of 300 square meters, and finally, to create a meadow and a shelter for sheep and donkeys. We also intend to house chickens, ducks, and rabbits.
We are planning to create a landscaped area, but we'll keep that for later on...
As our children have moved out, we now have the time and space to welcome travelers and exchange experiences. We will be delighted to share meals and daily activities with you. The schedule will depend on the season, the weather, and your wishes, following the 5 wwoofing days per week.
You will mainly participate in the vegetable garden and mixed borders creation. As former landscapers, we'll love to teach you the different species of plants (perennials and shrubs) and the way to aesthetically spruce them up if this interests you. You will also be welcome to help us create the sheep and donkeys' meadow.
When we're not busy in the garden or tinkering, we like to hike and bike around the area to find the perfect spot for bird-watching. We also like to cook.
Around the house, by walk or by bike, you can explore the wooded pasturelands of Normandy. A little further away, you may visit the city of Caen and its Abbaye aux Hommes, its Abbaye aux Dames, and its Memorial museum; the city of Bayeux well known for its tapestry and its cathedral; the D-Day landing beaches; the Suisse Normande area; and of course, the famous St Michael's Mount.

Hi there. We will look into what we did not do right with the post and try again.
Meanwhile, here is what we wrote (we used 1450 of the max of 1500 words).
Catherine and Patrick have undertaken the life project of restoring buildings and property dating back to 1750 and it was a pleasure being a part of this work for two weeks. We worked hard, mostly creating mulch, clearing newly planted trees, planting no dig potatoes and spring vegetables, and mulching around trees in the Arboretum. Catherine and Patrick not only explained the how, but also the why for each of our tasks. Their approach to working the land has given us lots of ideas for how to make changes on our own 5 acres in New Zealand.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks immersed in French culture with laughs and great conversations enjoyed over delicious long lunches and dinners. We learned to eat slowly, truly savouring our meals with new friends, as well as the importance of a good cheese. We had a lovely spacious room at one end of the house where we could relax and spend time with Têtard and Bibi, two gorgeous, friendly cats. In our spare time we walked, bird watched, and enjoyed the company of some of Catherine and Patrick’s many friends.
Les jardins du Bosq was an absolutely idyllic place to begin our woofing journey, which we recommend wholeheartedly. You will be rewarded for your hard work with fantastic food, good humour, an understanding of Norman history, and an authentic experience of French country

Catherine et Patrick sont très accueillants et le confort logistique quotidien est très appréciable. La chambre avec entrée indépendante est très agréable. Les activités sont variées et intéressantes. L'ambiance est joviale sans être envahissante. On se sent valorisés dans notre participation à ce projet paysagé. Recommandation !

J’ai passé 3 semaines chez Catherine et Patrick et ils ont été très gentille. J’ai été la possibilité d‘avoir un part de famille et ils m'ont hébergé dans une chambre confortable de la maison.
Grâce à nos nombreuses conversations, j'ai beaucoup appris le français et nous avons passé beaucoup de temps ensemble à manger et à jouer aux cartes.
Pendant mon WWOOFing, des amis sont venus nous rendre visite, qui a fait le temps plus vivant. Ils ont aussi partagé les week-ends avec moi, ce qui m'a permis de rendre visite aux parents de Patrick et de passer du temps au bord de la mer.
Nous avons préparé des pizzas avec des amis et cuit du pain au feu de bois.
Ça va être toujours dans un bon mémoire.

Deutsch: Ich habe eine unglaublich tolle Woche mit Patrick und Catherine verbringen dürfen. So durfte ich bereichert mit spannenden Gesprächen, einem Bauch voll von französischen Köstlichkeiten und ganz viel neu gelerntem Pflanzenwissen den Heimweg antreten. Danke, dass ihr mir gezeigt habt, was es heisst über 2 Hektar Land zu bewirtschaften und mich an eurer Freude und euren vielen Ideen habt teilhaben lassen - ihr werde das viele Lachen mit euch gut in meinem Herzen aufbewahren :)

Now back in Germany, I realise how much I learned during my three-week stay:
Cathérine and Patrick were very caring hosts with a wealth of ideas, humour and experience. I learned how to handle the animals (chickens, sheep) with care and how to protect the plants and vegetables from the extreme heat and drought. I now know how to create Benjes hedges and how to preserve a large amount of ripe fruit and berries that had to be harvested now for the winter. This time was unique for me, wonderful and unforgettable. Many thanks to my hosts !!!
