Luc & Lucinda

I had the most wonderful time on Luc's vineyard and definately recommend to anyone who loves learning, meeting new people and wine!!! Luc was so hospitable and I felt really comfortable there. We worked often with other vendageurs during harvest who were also so so lovely, as well as the other WWOOF volunteers who have become real friends to me. The area is gorgeous; rolling mountains and little surrounding villages (some are easily accessible by bike too) where we could visit the markets and socialise into the night - that was a lot of fun. I enjoyed all the harvesting and work on the vineyard and got to learn a lot about the process of making the wines too. I feel that Luc really cares about everyone working and staying at his vineyard, as well as doing his best to care for the environment through a more sustainable lifestyle too. That meant so much to me. Thank you Luc!

I had a wonderful time at Clos Rocailleux. There was a good balance, we worked in the vines in the morning and had the afternoon off. I would spend most of them reading on the terrace in the sun or cooking with the other volunteers. The area is beautiful and we were able to use bikes as well as a car to visit places on our free days. In the evenings we would often go to markets and a few other local events. It was a memorable first wwoofing experience, with plenty of good wine :))

Clos Rocailleux was an absolutely amazing experience for Vendange (Grape Harvest) 2025! This was my first WWOOFing stay and it was a true 10/10 experience. Luc was kind enough to pick me up/drop me off at the train station, and throughout my stay he was a friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable host. His passion for winemaking is clear, and he answers all your questions about grapes, vines, fermentation, bottling, etc. if you ask; additional helping out in the cellar in the afternoons is an option if you desire to do so. I learned so much about local winemaking/grapes in the Gaillac region. The accommodations were excellent: a clean dormitory with a comfortable bed, a beautiful plot of land, and a well-equipped kitchen where we cooked family-style meals together (be ready to help with cooking—it’s part of the fun!). The local markets were also a highlight, with amazing wine, cheese, and fresh produce for sale. The community of WWOOFers and harvest helpers were very kind and welcoming. While many people spoke English, practicing some French would definitely help to connect more deeply with locals!! The workdays were rewarding and well-structured, typically about four hours in the morning/afternoon, with flexibility for days off. Tasks included field work: grape harvesting, pruning, and weeding/thinning, so pack good waterproof boots + garden gloves. Luc was very thoughtful about keeping the workload fair & manageable. Rec: bring some long pants + bug spray to avoid mosquitoes.

My time at Clos Rocailleux was truly unforgettable. I spent the month of September there and was able to see almost the entire harvest process from start to finish. Most days were spent in the vines, harvesting grapes, but there was also other work like removing older vines to prepare for replanting in a few years, as well as some gardening around the property. There were opportunities to go into the cave (winery) as well, and if you wanted to watch (or help), you were always welcome. What made it even better was the community. Most evenings we’d all gather around the table, usually a group of about ten of us sharing supper together. Every so often locals who had helped with the harvest would join in, and whether the conversation was in French or English, everyone helped each other along with the language. The food was always delicious, the wine abundant, and I often felt spoiled to be part of those long meals and conversations. Outside of the work, I got to join in on small village night festivals and local markets, which were full of music, food, and laughter. On days off, we’d bike through the countryside and pick fresh figs, walnuts, and apples right from the trees along the way. The vineyard is set in such a peaceful part of France, and between the work, the food, the festivals, and the people, it gave me an experience I’ll never forget.

Thank you so much Luc! I had a wonderful time at Clos Rocailleux. I don't even know where to start... The vineyard is beautifully located in the hills close to a small town and lots auf pretty villages with very cute and cosy markets. Every monday and wednesday after harvesting Luc took us to the afternoon/evening markets where we would buy fresh produce and where we socialised with the people from the area. But he was also so kind to lend us his car to go for little trips on our own on the weekends. Harvesting started early and while being physical work, the vibes were always good and the other workers where all really nice. After work we could either choose to help some more, relax, or join Luc while he kept working on the winemaking process. He was happy to explain the process and let you do things on your own, even tho it might take a little longer. Although I had to leave a little earlier, I learned quite a lot in the three weeks I spent there and would have stayed some more if I could. I was also really happy that I could join the beautiful "End-of-Harvest-Party" with all the winemakers and people from the area. The other woofers were really welcoming and it felt like a little family, that I already miss. Same with a friend of Lucs and his lovely dog, who helped out and joined us for our shared lunch and dinners, which we prepared alternatly. Our accomodation in the old "barn" was also good and cozy. Couldnt have asked for a better experience. A bientot!

My partner and I had the ultimate first WWOOFing experience with Luc ☺️ He is the most patient, generous and passionate host. You can see that he really cares about what he is creating and was always happy to explain his processes, even throughout the busy peak of harvesting season. Shared meals (you will be very well fed), visits to local markets/ bars and free afternoons made for a very well balanced and enjoyable experience. We loved every second and would recommend working alongside Luc if you are interested in learning about winemaking processes first hand. Thank you Luc for a wonderful two weeks, we will remember our time spent with you fondly ☺️ — Steph & Josh
