We are pure hobby farmers but take care and pride in what we do. Since we bought the farm we have been slowly returning it to include some historic features. The farm house is lovely and is over 200 years old ....and we have 11 ha of land to take care of, besides wooded areas and hedges of course :-) We have a large vegetable garden which needs to be kept clear of weeds and where possible slugs (without using any sprays!), a rose garden that needs to be kept clean and of course in the autumn we are busy prepping food for storing and keeping throughout the winter. We make jam from the berry bushes and we ferment, dry, pickle or freeze any vegetables we can't eat immediately. During the winter the work is mostly about upkeep, we prepare the land and gardens for winter, cut back bushes and trees, chop wood, paint sheds and buildings and generally tidy everything up. Generally speaking that means we are looking for someone that can take care of those tasks. Add to that the daily routine of looking after, grooming and exercising the animals and you can tell we'd love some company! We can house two couples or two friends - there are two brand new rooms with a bathroom each giving you a lovely place to rest at the end of the day. We expect WWOOFers who stay with us to have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and work hard at a variety of tasks. Preferably with a big smile and a sense of humour :-) One quick note, we really find it hard to cater for vegans - Sorry guys! And one thing we really will not accept is any kind of drugs on our grounds. Thanks, Marion & Adrie

Our time on de Maverick with Marion and Addie was absolutely magical. They are kind and generous hosts who want to teach you the ways of their farm and whatever else you might be interested in. It makes sense why so many of their previous wwoofers come and visit them again. The work was quite manageable. We worked on their fields to get bales of hay (only happens once a year), watered garden and trees, helped with animal care, and plucked and potted fruit just to name a few. We worked for about 5-6 hours a day with a lunch break in the middle 5 days a week. All tasks were given that morning during breakfast. The accommodations are some of the best we’ve ever had as wwoofers with a private room and bathroom near the stables of the animals. They live near a small village where we would walk and get fresh bread in the mornings and there are so many things to do around on your days off. To name a few you can visit Poitiers, La Rochelle, and Boudreaux. They have great suggestions for things to do and are easy to work with as long as you communicate early on. I would highly recommend wwoofing here if you can keep a positive attitude, joke around, work hard, and be respectful. We love Adrie and Marion and hope to see them again soon!

Dear Marion & Adrie, I would like to thank you very much for a fantastic visit to your farm and how I was able to get to know the real French countryside. I enjoyed the projects we worked on and taking care of the animals on the farm. The farm is wonderfully quiet and located just outside Mauprévoir with lots of walking and cycling opportunities. The possibility to also visit some typically French villages in the area made it very worthwhile for a visit! Thank you very much and I hope you can make many more wwoofers happy with a visit to "Le Maverick" . Greetings Eelco

We spent 3 1/2 weeks in the beautiful french countryside. Marion and Adrie were so kind and welcomed us so lovely! We miss you and the animals a lot back home. Marion is a great chef, we enjoyed every meal we had together. The tasks were not too much. We loved feeding the animals and taking care of them. In our freetime we saw a little bit of France. We went to little towns nearby by bike and even saw some bigger citys like Poitiers and Bordeaux. It was a great experience and we can just recommend this farm to you! :)
